AIRPORT MARRIOTT HOTEL 

Mark Witte, Chief Engineer for the Airport Marriott Hotel, needed to replace an ailing Trane 400 Ton absorption unit before the peak cooling season. In mid January 2000, Dave Timm, Service Operations Manager for Johnson Controls, approached ETS/York about possible solutions. ETS/York proposed a stock 375 ton York YS water cooled open drive screw compressor chiller with the following advantages:

  • Stock chiller available delivery as opposed to the standard eleven week lead time from other competitors
ALBERICI HEADQUARTERS BUILDING 

Designated as a LEED platinum facility, the Alberici headquarters building was one of the first group of LEED platinum buildings in the Midwest. Corrigan Co. provided York Flexsys underfloor VAV boxes, two YCWS Hermetic Screw Compressor Water Cooled Chillers with R-407c non-ozone depleting refrigerant, and five York Airpak double wall air handling units.

AMEREN
This project designed by Wm Tao & Asso.,  involved a York YCAV-250 Air Cooled VSD/Screw Chiller with dual source power for dual emergency generator operation and two York YCAL-52 Air Cooled Scroll Chillers, all 3 for emergency call center back up operation. The screw chiller unit was fitted with dual unit controllers, control transformers, and totally redundant refrigeration circuit components.
AMERICA’S CENTER 

This Ross & Baruzzini project nearing completion has three AirFlow Manufacturing Co. nominal 40,000 cfm outdoor custom heat recovery wheel units to provide outdoor air ventilation make up to America’s Center (St. Louis Convention Center).

AMERICAN WATERWORKS
This project involved six 25 Ton York FlexSys Underfloor cooling/heating Packaged Rooftop Units with face and bypass dampers, humidity override controls, and over 100 York FlexSys underfloor generation 1 VAV/fan powered VAV terminal units with plug and play cabling and BacNet style wall thermostats. Located in Alton, Illinois, this project is a nationwide customer response center serving 19 states. Clayco Construction Co. and Langhauser Sheet Metal awarded ETS, Inc. the contract for the York Flexsys Underfloor Air System, VSD and Scroll Compressor equipped York Rooftop Units and JCI Metasys Building Automation System. The York Flexsys Underfloor Variable Air Volume System utilizes state-of-the-art technology in providing dehumidified building air, meeting current ASHRAE ventilation requirements from focused, 16-pattern adjustable, constant velocity floor diffusers. Sixty to sixty-three degree air is discharged at floor level and maintains comfort conditions in the six foot breathing zone while saving 20-25% annually in fan operating costs.
BJC SCHOENBERG 

This 1200 ton factory mounted VSD equipped Centrifugal chiller was one of the first machines sold with the Generation 4 Unit Mounted Variable Speed Drive cabinet.

The nominal unit efficiencies are .595 full load kw/ton and .384 NPLV kw/ton.

CROWN PLAZA HOTEL
A York state-of-the-art YCAV-200 Air Cooled VSD Screw Compressor Packaged Water Chiller replaced a competitors model and now provides chilled water to the hotel at considerable lower energy than its predecessor.
DES PERE CATH LAB 

A York 40 Ton twin circuit high efficiency Scroll Compressor Air Cooled Condensing unit provides year round cooling for the operating suites.

EASTERN RECEPTION, DIAGNOSTIC AND CORRECTION CENTER, 

BONNE TERRE, MO

This project has three York YT-675 Ton Open Drive Centrifugal Chillers with Solid State Starters and state-of-the-art Optiview Graphic Control panels and fifteen York Double Wall Indoor Air Handling Units. Other equipment includes York Hot Water Coils, Fan Coil Units, Variable Speed Drives, and Griswold Automatic Flow Control valves. McCarthy Co. was the general contractor with Corrigan Company being the mechanical contractor. An above ground mile long hot water and chilled water loop connects the several large buildings on the site.

HBE HEADQUARTERS BUILDING 

When HBE Corporation decided to replace one of the building’s original 300 ton Carrier chillers, they chose a York YK-300 MaxE Centrifugal Chiller. Some of the features of the York Chiller are Optiview Control Panel with trend log capability, innovative unit mounted Optispeed Variable Speed Drive, and close coupled open drive motor.

The York Optiview panel has a full screen LCD graphic display mounted in the middle of a keypad interface. The graphics allow personnel to see several operating parameters at once in real time! Moving through the various screens is simple and intuitive with instructions for specific operations provided on many of the screens. The York Optispeed Drive is an energy saving Variable Speed Drive option. With it’s new Adaptive Capacity Control, the Optispeed drive learns and remembers optimum speeds for various load and water temperature combinations. This results in maximum energy savings.

ROBERT A YOUNG GSA BUILDING 

Two York YK-1200 Ton R-134a open drive centrifugal chillers were provided as high efficiency replacements for existing units. These chillers arrived at the jobsite in full shrink-wrap covering to protect the internals and electronics from the elements a standard feature absent from other manufacturers.

ST CHARLES COUNTY CONVENTION CENTER 

This totally new convention center facility for the county of St. Charles has three York YT-450 Ton open drive Centrifugal Chillers and twelve Outdoor Solutions injected foam double-wall air handling units. Coupled with an ETS supplied JCI Metasys control system, this project represents state-of-the-art energy saving public facility design. Ross & Baruzzini was the mechanical consultant and Jarrell Contracting was the mechanical contractor.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER 

Thirty year old Trane Open Drive Centrifugal Chillers were replaced with two energy efficient York YK-950 ton R-134a Open Drive Centrifugal Chillers with unit mounted Variable Speed Drives and 4160/460 volt retrofit transformers. The chillers have consistently outperformed their expected energy savings and are significantly quieter than the nominal 700 Ton chillers that they replaced. Douglas Fitts was the engineering manager for St Louis County; the mechanical consultant was Robert Zager with Richardson Engineering Group; and the installing mechanical contractor was Haberberger Mechanical, Inc.

ST. MARY’S HOSPITAL 

A major chiller retrofit, this project involved two York YK-1200 Ton R-134a Open Drive Centrifugal Chillers with unit mounted Variable Speed Drives. Also provided was an ETS provided dedicated outside air unit.

SCOTTRADE 

Our latest Air Cooled Chiller innovation, the York model YCAV Latitude Variable Speed Drive Air Cooled Screw Chiller, is pictured here being installed at a new data processing center for Scottrade Securities. The two 150 Ton units serve the 24/7 IT facility and will save the owner upwards of 10-15% of the normal chiller operating cost year after year. Not only is energy savings a benefit of the YCAV chiller, but lower sound levels and zero electrical current inrush are important co-benefits. STEGER SCHOOL 

When the Webster Groves School District needed to replace the forty-four rooftop units on Steger School, they chose Facilities Solutions Group to orchestrate the design and construction process. Duct Systems, Inc. was the installing contractor and ETS, Inc. provided the new JCI brand rooftop equipment. The units needed to be high efficiency and have packaged DDC controls, both of which are available options with the Johnson Controls Rooftop Units.

UNIVERSITY CLUB TOWERS 

Two, York YT-300 Ton Form-3 Disassembled Shipment Open Drive Centrifugal Chillers were provided on this nearly 30 year old chiller retrofit project. The York chillers shipped already disassembled to facilitate the hoisting to near the top floor of the tower building by the mechanical contractor.

WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY CSRB 

It’s not often that a mechanical piece of equipment sells itself, but the York Compound YK Chiller/Heater may be an exception. This chiller serves as the 155 degree hot water generator for the Washington University School of Medicine CSRB project. The system was designed by Gerry Williams, past President of McClure Engineering Associates and assisted by Eric Utterson, now with 8760 Engineering, and installed by Peters Eichler Heating Co. The design parameters were 52/40 entering/leaving evaporator and 155/138 entering/leaving condenser conditions and 600 tons of cooling capacity. As you can see from the sign on the evaporator water box, the calculated energy savings are approximately $1500/day and growing.
